More visitors and increasing sales on its webshop - New online identity creates value for the New Carlsberg Glyptotek.

Marble & mummies

Marble carvings, paintings, mummies, and the best of art and culture spanning over millennia. With a unique combination of art and perhaps the most beautiful architectural halls, Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek delights and educates today’s diverse audiences.

The Glyptotek’s collection contains over 10,000 works of art and archaeological artifacts and offers ever new perspectives on life, culture, and civilization through a time span of 6,000 years.

The magnificence of the building, the extraordinary art, and the spectacular oasis has since 1894 inspired both Danes and tourists.

Now, the soul of the Glyptotek should come to life digitally.

From stone to screen

The Glyptotek searched for a professional digital agency to recreate the museum’s soul online.

We wanted a strong, flexible, and professional business partner who, together with the project’s steering group, could lead and drive the project forward. Twentyfour certainly met the requirements.” -Mikael Ipsen, IT & Web Manager, Glyptoteket.

The goal of the new site is to increase museum visitors and sales at the webshop.

Project’s features:

  • Works formidably on all platforms: mobiles, tablets, PCs, etc.
  • Beautiful graphic expression
  • Intuitive and user-friendly back-end
  • Inspire website visitors to visit the museum
  • Impressive webshop.

After a thorough analysis of the best digital agencies in Denmark, the Glyptotek decided to on Twentyfour (formerly HTML24) as a supplier.

The Glyptotek’s new online presence was to be developed over two phases. First, Glyptoteket.dk would be developed followed by the associated webshop.

Take a short video tour with our colleague Ariella who explains how the new integrations reduce human errors and save time:

All in

Since a large part of the website’s visitors accesses the site via mobile and tablet, it was built fully responsive to the mobile-first principle.

The user accesses the website and gets the same optimal experience of site and shop, whether on iPhone, Android, iPad, or PC.

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek got a stunning site that we are very proud to have built.

Diverse audiences

The Glyptotek’s new website has both form and functionality. The site is stupendously intuitive, raises thoughts, and inspires to visit the museum.

As many tourists visit The Glyptotek, an English version of the site was a priority. Thus, Twentyfour set up the underlying system so the English translations could easily be created on the individual sub-pages with the same sophisticated expressions.

There was a strong focus on efficiency and accuracy. It is now easy and quick for the staff to create new sub-pages in both Danish and English versions.

Good back-end = less work

New exhibitions replace old ones. Therefore, Glyptoteket.dk should accommodate easy and time-saving creation of new sub-pages.

“We are really excited to work with the new back-end. It saves us time and is easy and intuitive to work with. ” -Mikael Ipsen, IT & Web Manager, The Glyptotek.

Twentyfour has built a site where The Glyptotek’s employees can easily and painlessly create new subpages and are able to write texts and insert photos of the exhibition.
